Woo Hoo I figured out how to add pictures! :)

We had inside recess this afternoon due to the rain, but in the words of Pete the Cat "Did we worry?" "Heavens No!"  We still had a great time learning about all of the fun things we can play with inside the classroom!

Children's literature is my absolute favorite thing and I love teaching lessons using books.  This week and the following weeks we will focus on classroom routines and procedures, rules, making new friends, and our hopes and dreams for our Kindergarten year. Here are a few books we will read following these themes:
Miss Nelson is Missing, Mean Jean Recess Queen, Officer Buckle and Gloria, The Kisssing Hand, Chrysanthemum, Max Cleans Up, and Miss Bindergarten Has a Wild Day in Kindergarten.

Thank you to everyone for a smooth start to our year!  I have enjoyed getting to know each and every one of your little angels!  I am so excited for a great year!

Welcome to Kindergarten!

Welcome to Kindergarten!

School will be starting soon and I hope that you are as excited as I am!  It’s always fun making new friends and learning new things.  I always get a little nervous about the first day of school and meeting so many new people, but we will have a wonderful year learning together!

How was your summer?  I spent a lot of the summer playing with my little boy Maverick. He is 9 months old and has kept me very busy with his climbing and crawling.  We had a lot of fun going on play dates with the other Kindergarten teachers and their babies.  We went to the pool, Zoo, Zoombezi Bay, The Velvet Ice Cream Mill and picked strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. What fun things did you do this summer?

Do you have any pets?  I have crazy pets!  I can't wait to tell you all of the crazy things they do throughout the year!  I have an Australian Shepard mix named Scarlett, a Chihuahua named Zinny and two cats named Cubby and Chance.

What hobbies do you have? Besides chasing Mav around and playing with him I like to garden, cook and do yoga.

I have been working really hard to get our classroom ready for this year, and I can’t wait for you to see it!

We will get to meet before school starts at our Open House.  Your family will bring you in to look at our classroom and drop off school supplies if you want to.  You will go on a family scavenger hunt where you will be able to find your mailbox, cubby and name stick to answer a question on the board.

We will have another opportunity to meet at our Assessment Appointment.  Someone in your family will bring you to our classroom where you and I will play some fun assessment games together.  You can bring your school supplies on this day too if you would like.

On our first day of school we will sing songs, learn a fun dance, take a tour of the school, and meet our new classmates.

I am really looking forward to being your teacher this year.  We will have lots of fun and learn many new and exciting things.  See you soon!

The world of blogging is new to me!  Below is a link to our classroom website I have used in the past.  I will use the blog as a classroom newsletter to post updates, info and pictures of our class.  The classroom portal page link below can be used to access sight word list's, education websites, etc... Please bear with me as I find a new balance between the two.  And always feel free to contact me with any questions!  I am looking forward to a great year!
